Through a 60-minute moderated panel discussion, this event convened world-renowned thought leaders and visionaries to discuss the erosion of multilateralism in global health financing, and what should be done to tackle it together.
Global health, solidarity, and the fight for equity are undergoing a great reset in the raging pandemic. Thus, it is critical to create a clear and universal understanding of the health and economic benefits of investing in prevention and early treatment. Global political and business leaders need to take actions to foster solidarity and accountability based on the belief that every life matters equally.
Health Finance Institute initiated the discussion by sharing blended finance and global governance trends, as part of HFI’s efforts to catalyze financing for the most underserved populations suffering from underfinanced diseases. Panelists and convened thinkers were asked to share their perspectives and visions of an actionable path forward.
The Panel was moderated by Professor Ilona Kickbusch, Founder and Chair of Global Health Centre at the Graduate Institute. Panelists included:
- Rt. Hon. Helen Clark, Co-Chair of Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response, former PM of New Zealand, and former Administrator of UNDP Rt. Hon.
- Dr. Peter Singer, Special Advisor to the Director General, World Health Organization
- Hon. Seth Terkper, Former Minister for Finance, Republic of Ghana Hon.
- Dr. Andrea Feigl, CEO and Co-Founder of Health Finance Institute
