HFI Country Programs
Over the past month, HFI has made extensive progress on scoping in Nigeria and Cambodia. Using information gathered from stakeholder consultations and desktop research, HFI’s Country Programs synthesized the financial, epidemiological, economic, and business landscapes in each country; identified existing chronic disease treatment platforms, and highlighted partnership opportunities in efforts to understand what kind of investable products could be introduced in each country.
Recruitment efforts are still underway in Tanzania, Jordan, and Mexico. The Country Programs team is continuing its search for ambassadors to assist with scoping efforts in the aforementioned countries. If you are interested in these roles or are interested in finding ways to collaborate, please reach out at info@healthfinanceinstitute.org.

HFI Book Club and Recognizing Juneteenth
In efforts to remain connected while working remotely, the HFI team has put together a book club. The group gets together every other week to engage in riveting discussions on selected readings.
In light of the current social climate in the United States, members of the book club selected White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo for the group’s inaugural gathering. The group has discussed tangible ways that learnings from the book can be applied both within the organization and by the individuals that comprise HFI.
Last month, HFI recognized Juneteenth by having each team member spend an hour educating themselves on racism and the history of Juneteenth. Topics studied by staff members included racism as a public health issue, the history of institutionalized racism, and the history of slavery and civil rights in the United States.
