CDC Data Analyses
We analyzed recent data from the CDC to find the increased odds of hospitalization and ICU admission among COVID-19 patients with pre-existing chronic diseases.
NCDs increase the risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes:
- Emerging data show associations between underlying conditions and COVID19 severity.
- COVID-19 patients with chronic conditions are up to 11 times as likely to be hospitalized and up to 14 times as likely to be admitted to the ICU as compared to COVID-19 patients without chronic conditions.

HFI’s COVID Strategy
HFI brings unique expertise in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic based on our work within the NCD space and our innovative financing capacities. Given the foreseen global economic recession, we cannot be certain about how governments will invest in COVID-19 recovery strategies.
HFI proposes a framework of medium-term solutions to aid in planning for the COVID-19 recovery phase, so that governments are not forced to divest in other important health interventions. To read more on our strategy, click here. For partners wanting to know more on how to join HFI's support for countries in their planning around COVID-19 and NCDs, please reach out to info@healthfinanceinstitute.org.

Our Support for WHO
“COVID-19 knows no borders” said our CEO, Dr. Andrea Feigl, in a recent interview with TRT. We believe that now is not the time to criticize global institutions that need our support during this global crisis. It is the time for solidarity. HFI expresses our support for the World Health Organization during this trying time.
