Impact Goals

Our Focus

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a top threat to economic and global development.
What are NCDs?

Non-communicable diseases, also called chronic conditions, are largely made up of the following disease groups:

  • Cardiovascular diseases (leading to heart attacks and stroke)
  • Cancer
  • Respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma)
  • Diabetes
  • Mental health conditions

Together, chronic conditions are responsible for over 50% of deaths and over 60% of the disease burden in developing countries.

NCDs: Myths vs. Truth

Myths

  • They are self-inflicted because of individual choice and lazy behaviors
  • They only affect older populations
Truths
